Barklytic was born from the daily challenges of running Doggie Den Inn, a real pet care facility in North Carolina. We weren't running on paper and spreadsheets — we tried the leading platforms, switched between them, and still hit the same wall: software built to demo well, not to run a facility.
Live booking that wasn't actually live. Deposit workflows that left spaces unprotected. Report cards limited to one per stay. Interfaces that took five clicks to do what should take one. We learned every quirk and workaround the hard way.
Co-founder Lee Carter spent a decade in IT and cybersecurity before stepping away to launch Doggie Den Inn. After two years of evaluating, implementing, and operating on industry-standard tools, the problem was clear: the gap wasn't a missing feature — it was that nobody was building this software with deep operational experience and modern engineering practices at the same time.
So we built it.
